It's Time to Hibernate!

I've recently become all fired up to develop the branding side of things for my illustrations, and have consequently decided to take a break from illustrating for the next six weeks.
There'll be some big changes and new developments when I return! On top of new illustrations, I'll be releasing an official website, revamping my blog, releasing prints to purchase, and giving my brand a massive overhaul. As well as a few other surprises...
So stay tuned, and thanks for all your support so far!

Too Groovy...

If there's one era I love more than any other it's the swingin' 60s. They were just so cool! Great music, suave interiors, and colorful fun fashion. Today it's the Go-Go dancers of the 60s that have brought this illustration to fruition- they seriously had something special going on.

Everyone was so stylish back then, whether they were wearing outrageous geometric prints or pared-down makeup looks and tomboy outfits. Somebody hurry up and invent a time machine already!!

Miss Fine

You know how there are those TV shows you always come back to because they make you feel so damn happy? 'The Nanny' from the 90s is one of mine. Maybe I didn't realise it at the time but I think when I was a kid watching the fabulous Fran Fine parading around in all her over-the-top nasal glory, her love of fashion, colour, and self-expression must have rubbed off on me somewhere along the way.

I love that she stands out like a sore thumb on the show, and she carries her fashion statements with total nonchalance and classy confidence.

The outfit above is from the episode 'Fashion Show' and it has to be one of my all-time favorites. I'd even go so far as to say Miss Fine could be one of the most successfully styled characters on any show I've ever seen!

Here are a few more outfits that can't go without a mention. God, she's awesome...

Sleepytime

Maybe it's the onset of winter here in Australia or the fact that I've been sick for the past month and a half, but I felt it was time to illustrate some pyjamas.

I know some people don't really get the appeal of wearing pyjama sets and will opt for sweats and a
hoodie instead. But in winter there's nothing I love more than donning a pair of cosy (understatedly glamorous) PJs, fluffy bed socks, and settling in with a good book or addictive TV show to binge watch- at the moment it's 'The Real Housewives of Cheshire'- what can I say? I love my trash...

And of course this entire scenario wouldn't be complete without a cup of hot cocoa in a raccoon mug and a comatose cat on your lap... What is it about cats and their instant ability to cheer you up?

Gigi

It's such an old story now- kids becoming famous through their superstar parents and for not doing much at all. That might be the case with Gigi Hadid, but I think it's safe to say this girl has blazed her own trail through the modeling industry and has earned her stardom fair and square.

She's right on the pulse of fashion trends and holds her own against some of the biggest names in the modeling world. She may have model genes and tips from her mother Yolanda Foster, but you can't deny she knows what she's doing. And boy does she do it well!

Claire Danes + Zac Posen = Magic

Actress Claire Danes had her perfect Cinderella moment on the red carpet of this year's Met Gala the other day, in a delicate powder blue gown by evening wear god Zac Posen. That gown alone would've slayed any competition on the night...

But then Claire walked inside and everyone lost it.

This my friends, is one of those iconic fashion moments we will never forget. Creating a fabric with fibre optic lighting actually woven throughout it, Posen has created an absolute masterpiece. He was one of the few designers who accurately interpreted the theme of 'Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology'. Zac, we bow down to you!

This dress makes me think of Claire in her Romeo + Juliet days...
