It's Time to Hibernate!

I've recently become all fired up to develop the branding side of things for my illustrations, and have consequently decided to take a break from illustrating for the next six weeks.
There'll be some big changes and new developments when I return! On top of new illustrations, I'll be releasing an official website, revamping my blog, releasing prints to purchase, and giving my brand a massive overhaul. As well as a few other surprises...
So stay tuned, and thanks for all your support so far!

Too Groovy...

If there's one era I love more than any other it's the swingin' 60s. They were just so cool! Great music, suave interiors, and colorful fun fashion. Today it's the Go-Go dancers of the 60s that have brought this illustration to fruition- they seriously had something special going on.

Everyone was so stylish back then, whether they were wearing outrageous geometric prints or pared-down makeup looks and tomboy outfits. Somebody hurry up and invent a time machine already!!

Miss Fine

You know how there are those TV shows you always come back to because they make you feel so damn happy? 'The Nanny' from the 90s is one of mine. Maybe I didn't realise it at the time but I think when I was a kid watching the fabulous Fran Fine parading around in all her over-the-top nasal glory, her love of fashion, colour, and self-expression must have rubbed off on me somewhere along the way.

I love that she stands out like a sore thumb on the show, and she carries her fashion statements with total nonchalance and classy confidence.

The outfit above is from the episode 'Fashion Show' and it has to be one of my all-time favorites. I'd even go so far as to say Miss Fine could be one of the most successfully styled characters on any show I've ever seen!

Here are a few more outfits that can't go without a mention. God, she's awesome...

Sleepytime

Maybe it's the onset of winter here in Australia or the fact that I've been sick for the past month and a half, but I felt it was time to illustrate some pyjamas.

I know some people don't really get the appeal of wearing pyjama sets and will opt for sweats and a
hoodie instead. But in winter there's nothing I love more than donning a pair of cosy (understatedly glamorous) PJs, fluffy bed socks, and settling in with a good book or addictive TV show to binge watch- at the moment it's 'The Real Housewives of Cheshire'- what can I say? I love my trash...

And of course this entire scenario wouldn't be complete without a cup of hot cocoa in a raccoon mug and a comatose cat on your lap... What is it about cats and their instant ability to cheer you up?

Gigi

It's such an old story now- kids becoming famous through their superstar parents and for not doing much at all. That might be the case with Gigi Hadid, but I think it's safe to say this girl has blazed her own trail through the modeling industry and has earned her stardom fair and square.

She's right on the pulse of fashion trends and holds her own against some of the biggest names in the modeling world. She may have model genes and tips from her mother Yolanda Foster, but you can't deny she knows what she's doing. And boy does she do it well!

Claire Danes + Zac Posen = Magic

Actress Claire Danes had her perfect Cinderella moment on the red carpet of this year's Met Gala the other day, in a delicate powder blue gown by evening wear god Zac Posen. That gown alone would've slayed any competition on the night...

But then Claire walked inside and everyone lost it.

This my friends, is one of those iconic fashion moments we will never forget. Creating a fabric with fibre optic lighting actually woven throughout it, Posen has created an absolute masterpiece. He was one of the few designers who accurately interpreted the theme of 'Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology'. Zac, we bow down to you!

This dress makes me think of Claire in her Romeo + Juliet days...

Lipstick

The second illustration in a series I'm working on! How is it that a bit of red lipstick can instantly make you feel more glamorous?

Lashes

I was in the mood for something classic and minimalistic recently. I'd really like to do a small series of illustrations depicting the different stages of 'tizzying oneself up'. The first is several lashings of mascara! The rest you'll have to stay tuned for..

Tea Time

It's amazing all the different ways in which inspiration can strike sometimes...
For example, I came across this beautiful color combination of hunter green and baby pink in a set of invitation cards on Pinterest the other day and had to use it in an illustration. I would just die if I could have this entire outfit! And the red velvet cake wouldn't hurt either..

Copacabana

Ever-inspired by all things colorful and tropical, I couldn't resist my own attempt at the famous 'fruit hat' worn by Carmen Miranda. And naturally, a fruit hat should be balanced out by a fabulous banana skirt. It just completes the look in my opinion..

Swiss Miss

I figured it was about time I paid homage to my Swiss ancestry with an illustration! I would love a dress like this, with the Swiss Alps worked into the print. Digital printing on textiles has opened up a Pandora's box of possibilities in the fashion world, with some very creative and interesting results..
Yay for technological advances!

Sophia Webster: Butterflies

I've recently started to realise that Sophia Webster is quickly becoming one of my favorite shoe designers. I love the balance of fun and elegance she manages to create with all of her shoes.

How can you go past these beautiful butterfly heels? They seem to be available in every color under the sun, and I'm a particular fan of the metallics. I think I just have to accept that I will have to purchase a pair of Sophia Webster heels in the fairly near future, whatever the horrendous price I'll have to pay...

Hunter Green

If there's one colour I wish would flood the local clothing outlets more than any other, it's hunter green. Every winter I wait with bated breath to see what the colours are for the new season, and every year I'm disappointed. It's such a gorgeous, rich, flattering colour!

But my fingers are still crossed for 2016's colour trends; I hear murmurings of deep greens, oxblood, and mustard... Could this finally be the year my favourite autumn/ winter colours emerge?

Alicia Vikander- SAG Awards 2016

Alicia Vikander was in yet another knockout Louis Vuitton gown at the Screen Actors Guild awards recently. In a sea of dresses that all look the same, Alicia just seems to be providing one refreshing take on red carpet glamour after the other. It could prove very difficult to keep up with this girl!

Molten Store

I am obsessed with Molten Store in James Street, New Farm! Every time I walk in there I want to buy practically every piece of jewellery I see. And luckily for me they've recently opened another store in Carindale, so I'm flexing my spending muscles!

'The Botanist' earrings are even prettier in real life, I definitely need to get my hands on a pair..

I have a feeling my bank account's going to take a beating soon.
